What Causes Scars

Scars can be caused by minor skin injuries, skin infections, burns, surgery, weight gain or pregnancy. Depending on the type of scar and its location, scars can be dark, red, itchy, raised and possibly painful. Scars with these characteristics are classified as hypertrophic or keloidal.

Scars are the result of an overproduction of collagen in the damaged area of skin. This overabundance of collagen hinders healing and can raise the scar and make it more noticeable.

Scar Treatment For All Types Of Scars

tru-derm Scar Cream can be effectively used to soften and smooth the appearance of all types of scars, including:

Surgery scars
Scars from healed lacerations
Stretch marks
Hypertrophic scars
Keloidal scars
Acne scars
Burns
Insect bites

Surgery Scars
Scars caused by surgical incisions can leave lasting reminders of painful injuries or surgeries. It is not uncommon for these types of scars to be reddened, painful and raised.

tru-derm Scar Cream can be used on newly healed surgery scars, as well as older surgery scars. It reduces the reddened, raised appearance of the scar, and helps relieve itching or discomfort associated with the scar.

Scars From Healed Lacerations
Bumps, scrapes or minor cuts can cause scars. Once these injuries have healed, scaring is possible.

If a small healed laceration has a reddened and raised appearance, use tru-derm Scar Cream to treat the scar, reduce itching and discomfort, and improve its appearance. Also use tru-derm Scar Cream with SPF10 to provide minimal protection from sun exposure that can cause further damage to scars.

Stretch Marks
Stretch marks are frequently created by weight gain or pregnancy. To reduce the reddened and raised appearance of new stretch marks, or the silvery appearance of older stretch marks, use tru-derm Scar Cream to soften and fade them. Also use tru-derm Scar Cream with SPF10 to protect the scar from sun exposure that can cause further damage or make it more visible.

Hypertrophic Scars
Hypertrophic scars are recognized by their thick, raised and discolored appearance. They are most often found at sights of incisions or injuries on the trunk of the body, on the face, or on the earlobes.

tru-derm Scar Cream can be used on newly formed hypertrophic scars, as well as older scars. It reduces the thickened, discolored and raised appearance of the scar, while providing minimal protection from UV rays.

Keloidal Scars
Keloidal Scars, commonly known as keloids, are more common on people with darker skin. They are thick, raised and sometimes itchy. Keloidal scars can grow in size over time, and are often found on the chest, ears or shoulders.

tru-derm Scar Cream can be used on newly formed keloidal scars, as well as older scars. It reduces the thickened, discolored and raised appearance of the scar. It also helps relieve itching or discomfort associated with keloidal scars while providing minimal protection from UV rays.

Acne Scars
Acute acne and cystic acne can leave a trail of scars, redness and irritation in its path. Soften and fade the appearance of acne scars with tru-derm Scar Cream. Also use tru-derm Scar Cream with SPF10 to protect acne scars from sun exposure that can cause further damage.

tru-derm Scar Cream can be safely used in combination with other acne scar treatment preparations.

Scars From Burns
Scars caused by burns are often red, raised, and sometimes painful or itchy. Once the burned area has healed, tru-derm Scar Cream can be used on scars left by burns. tru-derm Scar Cream helps relieve itching or discomfort associated with burns, while helping to fade the redness and reduce the raised appearance of the scar.

Scars From Insect Bites
Insect bites, and the scratching that often accompanies them, can lead to scarring of surrounding skin. Scars from insect bites are frequently red, raised and itchy.
